Healthy Neighbourshed Gardening Workshops in Burlington & Hamilton February 2018

Want to upgrade your yard, but don’t know where to start? Conservation Halton is offering a series of gardening workshops starting in February to help Burlington and Hamilton homeowners create a healthy yard and understand the impact of their yards and neighbourhoods on local water quality.


Watershed Conditions Statement - Water Safety January 22, 2018

Conservation Halton issued a Watershed Conditions Statement - Water Safety at 11:30 p.m. on Monday, January 22, 2018. Widespread flooding is not currently anticipated. Widespread flooding is not currently anticipated. Our reservoirs are currently at winter holding levels which allows for larger storage capacity for circumstances of this nature. Conservation Halton is asking all residents and children to keep a safe distance from all watercourses and structures such as bridges, culverts and dams. Elevated water levels, fast flowing water, and slippery conditions along stream banks continue to make these locations extremely dangerous.


Owl Prowls return to Mountsberg in 2018

Mountsberg Conservation Area’s popular winter Owl Prowls return this January. Each evening offers participants an opportunity for adventure and insight during a winter night hike to search for wild local owls. There are four Owl Prowl nights scheduled: Friday, January 19 and 26 (from 7 to 9 p.m.) are advanced Prowls for Adults, while Saturday, January 20 and 27 (from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.) are all-ages Family Nights.


Watershed Conditions Statement - Water Safety January 11, 2018

Conservation Halton issued a Watershed Conditions Statement - Water Safety at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2018. Environment Canada is forecasting rainfall beginning this afternoon and continuing overnight into Friday. Expected amounts will range between 10 to 20 mm with higher amounts possible in localized areas.


2018 Guided snowshoe hikes Saturday nights at Crawford Lake

Conservation Halton is hosting Guided Snowshoe Hikes every Saturday evening in January and February beginning from 6 to 8 p.m. at Crawford Lake, The cost for the program is $18 for Adults and $13 for Children & Seniors plus HST. Please pre-register in advance as space is limited.
